Maple Grove Rugby Park is the home of the MGO which is situated at 90 Frobisher Road in Winnipeg's St. Vital neighborhood.
It is a premier multi-sport facility along the Red River.
It features five full-size rugby pitches, four equipped with rugby posts and one with multi-use posts, accommodating various field sports such as football, soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, disc sports, volleyball, cricket, and dodgeball.
It is also the home of Super Spike!
The park also offers amenities including a fully licensed clubhouse, off-leash dog park, Frisbee fields, beach volleyball courts, and a boat launch into the Red River.
Managed by Rugby Manitoba, Maple Grove Rugby Park serves as Manitoba's largest rugby-only complex, hosting numerous rugby events and tournaments.
Garth Pischke is a well-known Canadian volleyball player and coach, widely regarded as one of the country's top players in the sport's history.
He is particularly famous for his long and successful career as a beach volleyball player.
Pischke represented Canada in multiple international competitions, including the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour.
Garth was part of Canada's beach volleyball scene during its formative years, and his expertise and skills played a significant role in shaping the sport in Canada. His volleyball career spans several decades, and he's known for his athleticism, technique, and leadership on the court.
Pischke’s impact on Canadian volleyball is also seen in his contributions as a coach. He has mentored and guided many aspiring players, sharing his vast knowledge and experience.
Beyond his playing career, Garth Pischke has been involved in the development of volleyball at the grassroots level, working to promote the sport across Canada.
He has become a well-respected figure in Canadian volleyball, known for his dedication and influence on the sport both on and off the court.
Jason Postma is a veteran sales and marketing professional; who fell in love with the game of beach volleyball in 1990 at the age of 15, playing in his first Grand Beach Premier Volleyball Tournament at the age of 16 in 1991.
Jason played and coached at River East Collegiate and Miles MacDonell Collegiate.
Jason grew up watching and idolizing grass roots AVP players such as Karch Kiraly, Sinjin Smith, Randy Stoklos and local Grand Beach legends such as Rob Olfert, Hans Hildebrandt, Garth Pischke and more.
Grand Beach has been his home since the early 90's and is giving back to his volleyball community by volunteering his time and talents to further the MGO and GBO for generations to come.
Jason sees this opportunity as an honor to work along side Garth & Cindy Pischke and his son Christian to support and grow the MGO and GBO.
